Polygons reinvents a 3000-year-old tool by compressing an entire set of measuring spoons into an origami-flat sheet, just 0.1 inches thin. Using precisely engineered multi-layer live hinges, one pinch along a crease instantly forms the three volumes cooks use most—½ Tbsp, 1 Tbsp, and 2 Tbsp on the large sheet, and ¼ tsp, ½ tsp, and 1 tsp on the small. Inserting a finger into the slotted groove lets the tool spring back to its bookmark-flat form, ready to clean in a single wipe. Hidden magnets allow it to live on the fridge, within reach and never lost in a drawer.
Polygons measures both wet and dry ingredients with extreme accuracy. Its flattening feature eliminates the "leftover struggle": after scooping, the rigid triangular bowls flatten to help in spreading or scraping sticky ingredients, reducing food waste dramatically. The slim profile slides into cookbooks or any drawer, and the flat face rinses in seconds, saving water and soap. With it's proprietary DuraBend technology, it is built to endure more than 100,000 bending cycles, it offers decades of reliable performance.
Beyond the kitchen, its slim profile makes it the ideal tool for travelers, campers, and those embracing minimalist living. Furthermore, the intuitive "pinch-to-fold" motion offers an ergonomic alternative for users with limited hand mobility who may struggle with gripping traditional narrow spoon handles. The tactile, transformative nature of Polygons creates a compelling sensory experience for kids and adults alike, making the act of preparation as engaging as the cooking itself.
We began by studying the most natural measuring tool—the human hand—which stays flat at rest and instinctively cups itself in varying degrees to hold precise amounts. This gesture guided a planar origami crease-map, refined through three years of prototyping, proprietary multi-layer hinge engineering, and calibrated volume testing.
By replacing six traditional spoons with one ultra-compact sheet, Polygons reduces plastic usage, packaging volume, and freight CO₂ emissions by more than 80%. It proves that thoughtful geometry and human-centered engineering can make everyday tools more practical, attractive, and dramatically more sustainable.
