Nāga is a protective deity in Indian Buddhism, often revered as a dragon spirit. Legend holds that Nāga sheltered the Buddha from the wind and rain, serving as a magnificent canopy that guarded the Buddha during his enlightenment. Nāga is also regarded as the guardian of rain and rivers, bringing bountiful harvests and vitality to all creation. Therefore, Nāga embodies auspiciousness, grace, and protection.
The design concept of "The Grace of Nāga's Nectar Rain" originates from this very myth. The uppermost section draws inspiration from the circular and complete form of the Mandala, utilizing hanging silver circular plates to represent the shimmering, rippling effect of raindrops falling. The main body features the form of Nāga crafted in gold, with its gracefully arching body symbolizing the connection between heaven and earth and the guardianship over all beings. The lowest section employs colorful diamond tassels to vividly depict the continuous cycle of life and flourishing vitality that ensues after the rain nourishes the earth.
